Little Brother

the  interesting part of Little Brother for me was in Chapter 1, when Mr. Brenson calls Winston into his office and demands that he confess to some gossip. That is when Winston plays Mr. Brenson like a poker player at the table. he reads his tells, knows what to expect and know how to react to them. he is a step ahead of Mr. Brenson in their first meeting.  For instance; when Mr. Brenson taps his class ring, that means that events are not unfolding the way he had anticipated them to. Or when Mr. Brenson shakes his head and looks down, Winston knows that he is about to be yelled at, and braces for it. Winston also pretends to look at Mr. Brenson by looking slightly to the left of Mr. Brenson’s head and tries to remember very complex lyrics to old Irish folk songs, this way he keeps his face composed and shows an unworried look to Mr. Brenson. The most important part of this story Little Brother is to not let the government take your natural rights from you (the citizens of the United States) that you are granted at the moment of birth. An example of this in Little Brother is when Home Land Security comes to San Fransisco and cracks down on everybody and everything that they do.

technology in my life!

Technology has established itself in most lives now a day. It has become a normal activity in everyday life. It helps businesses manage their money, time, and staff, it helps sports teams with their medical staff, players, coaches, finds the quickest routes to and from games, helps them book hotel rooms. Technology for me has become an everyday activity as well. Technology helps me organize my daily events, helps me get up in the morning, helps me communicate with friends and family and it also allows me to listen to music while playing games at the same time. Also lets me surf the World Wide Web in search of interesting topics and ideas to look at for hours upon hours. Technology helps me with my surfing as well, helps me locate the big swells coming in, so that I will be able to get to the waves in time to catch the swells.

A big piece of technology for me is my cellular device; it helps me connect with my loved ones and relatives who are across the country or in a totally different country all together. It allows me to make long distance calls without having difficulty, allows me to text anyone anywhere at any time, it is very useful and comes in handy 10 times out of 10, which is a pretty good percentage for me. I also depend on my cellular device to wake me up each and every morning at 7 am, I put the ring tone as high as it can go and then I fall asleep to the sounds of the Turlock night life, or back home to the soothing sound of crashing waves upon a beach all night. My cell phone has many functions, it allows me to call anyone at any time, and it allows me to text any one and any time, it allows me sleep without worrying about over sleeping which is easy for me. It allows me to take pictures and videos as well. My phone has taken the need of a camera away from me, I no longer need a camera in my life, I have my phone to take pictures for me, and I also no longer need a video camcorder, my phone can take 30 second videos as well. It comes in handy a lot. Whether it is being a tourist for a day, sightseeing, or just taking goofy videos of goofy friends, doing goofy things like trying to walk a runway or putting on girl’s clothes and walking around campus in them funny videos like that add years to my life. I have also come to realize that my cell phone is becoming an essential part of my life, and in terms of the world. The cell phone has become a sign of social status; people are now measured by what type of cell phone, the model year of the phone, even the phones gadgets are now measured against one another. For music I use my IPod though.
My IPod is a very handy gadget to have around with you almost all time, it can multitask. It has the ability to play games while at the same time playing music in your ears, from one of your many many playlists. Most of which are filled with songs from lime wire or other downloadable services that are now all over the World Wide Web just waiting for you. I use my IPod in almost every and any situation that is possible, without it getting me in trouble of course. Wink Wink. My Music that I listen too, has a little bit of everything for everything moment in time. For any occasion basically, My music soothes me and calms me down and allows me to relax, even when outside world in all of its wisdom does not allow me to relax. I use my IPod to lets me slip into another world, one of peace and tranquility where I can forget all of my worries and just focus on the present and the now. The one thing I do worry about with my IPod is that I think that at some point in the future I will become too dependent on my IPod to let me escape this world into my one peaceful world, that I will be out of touch with the real world, the world that really matters in everyday life and lifestyles. The games on my IPod are also almost equivalent to the games on a regular game system such as a xbox 360, playstation 3, or wii. I spend a lot of my time playing the games on my IPod to pass time by, or just for the sake of fun and for giggles of course too. The IPod also plays movies, which I love to watch loads of movies in my spare time. My favorite movies are a knight’s tale, gladiator, kingdom of heaven, 300, surfing giants, American pie, Lord of the Rings, and the Departed, also others that I cannot think of right now. But you get the picture I like movies a lot, even more than I should like them. Which is probably by a large margin, but that is okay since I enjoy to movies and all the story lines with the plots and twists they have in them. But back to the essay, my IPod can play all of these and does. I probably watch about 3 or 4 movies a week on my IPod. Since I watch them so much I have gotten to know all the small details in the films from watching them so much, which is good and bad I suppose depends on how you look at it really.  at least the Ipod beats surfing the World Wide Web all day.
I usually surf the World Wide Web to look for the best surf spots around Coronado, CA which is where I live. Coronado is an island city that is across the bay from the City of San Diego. Coronado looks right at the Downtown district of San Diego. Now that you know where Coronado is, also know that is completely surrounded by water on all sides. So it is an easy assumption to think that most people on the island city surf, or spend most of their time in the waters around the city. So besides looking for surfing swells on the World Wide Web, I also look up interesting facts about dinosaurs, influential people, ancient artifacts, wonders of the world, ancient Greek history and myths. Basically anything that has an impact on History I have either heard of and know about it, or I will look it up on the internet and educate myself about on my own time, and YouTube videos do not count as educating myself either. There are many interesting facts and articles that you can look at and read about on the internet. I also social network on the World Wide Web, which I am pretty sure that most people have tried them at some point, I use facebook instead of myspace now, I still have a myspace page, but I do not go on it anymore. I read the news on the internet as well, instead of going and getting a newspaper. I just stay at home read the news and then go on to other things. I also use the internet to follow my sports teams which are from multiple countries and have very random yet compelling schedules. I shop online as well, I shop for clothes, food, you name it I have probably shopped for it at some point in my life. I realize that technology plays a big part in my life, but I have also realized that technology plays a big part in society as a whole now as well. One cannot simply live life anymore without the means of technology, they would be very successful if that was the way they lived life.

Video Games With Education

I think that more games should have actual footage of event, like the Call of Duty games, the Brothers in Arms games or any other war game of our time. Madden and NCAA have facts that they show during the loading screen, for gamers to read while they wait. these facts educate gamers about the teams they like, the armies they are playing as etc. More games should have fun facts that gamers can read, it will create a better stimuli for the gamers and also allow them to connect with their character or team in the game. Even the halo franchise has gotten people interested in how the war will finish. War games are a great platform to educate people on, the games do not always have to be World Wars, they can be from the past, or the future as halo is set in the future. A Major game franchise that sparked interests in all gamers was the computer game franchise Age of Empires. it has a historical correct story line, for each race that was in the game. More games should strive to educate gamers, not just have gamers sit for endless hours in front of blank loading scenes as they beat each level, then the gamer beats the game. and never plays it again. it has no replay value. games with fun facts or actual educational footage of events. have better replay value on average.

My Cell Phone

My cell phone is very important to me, I use it in my everyday lifestyle. I mainly use my cell phone to text people, which has been made very easy, due to the full keyboard that is on the phone once I flip open the phone. I also use my surf the world wide web, call people, and listen to music. these are the four functions of my cell phone in my everyday life. Keeping in contact with everyone in my family is a huge deal, since we all have cell phones and have unlimited minutes to all verizon carriers. So we call each other about once a day, just to keep in touch and do not fall out of each others grace so to speak.

I also text everyone in my family as well as all of my friends, so i am constantly using my cell phone, except for in class of course. Texting family members who in other countries is a lot easier and cheaper than having long distance conversation across different continents. It makes communicating with family a lot less complicated and reduces the amount of unneeded stress. hahahahahaha. Other than that texting is just the same as an AIM account or any other type of instant messaging, all without having to actually pick up the phone dial different area codes, and sometimes through multiple operators.

Surfing the world Wide Web is also a big thing I do, I usually look up the tides and the weather then look at ESPN, then rarely i can be caught purchasing items on the World Wide Web on my phone by friends.

The last thing I use my phone for is the download and listen to music. I listen to a lot of different types of music I do not have one specific type of music that I lean towards, I pretty much listen and like all types, with a negative bias towards rap. I have just never got on that wagon. I do have every other type of music on my cellular device that I do listen to, and most likely always will listen too.
